The goat with banksy
Wednesday, May 7th, 2008During the Cans Festival this past weekend, I really wanted to try out spray painting. I spent the whole weekend before cutting out stencils. When I got there, the guy asked me how big it was, and told me he had a great place for me. He proceeded to take me over to where Banksy’s work was, and told me to paint on the same bit of wall. I said, “Uh! I can’t!” and he said, “No, Banksy said that all the space is to be filled.” With trembling hands I began to take out my stuff.
So I put on the ‘mind the gap’ tshirt we bought from the tourist shop around the corner (always remember to bring your old clothes so you don’t have to do this…) As I pinned up my first layer, my stomach was in knots. Some guy with a video camera came over and said, “Uh, I don’t think you should be doing this…” And I almost wanted to do leave! But I thought to myself, You’re here, do it. With hundreds of people watching and commenting right behind me, I began spraypainting.
I finished my first ever stencil, all 5 layers, took off the tape, to reveal da goat!

You’re a star, Ms Neville. Way to play with the ‘big boys’! Very proud and pleased for you
Just a note here… It turns out that piece I was working next to was not by banksy, but by dotmaster..! Please forgive me for giving the credit to the wrong artist
See all the artist’s names on this youtube video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N4Zy5lGNA10
That’s awesome, even if it’s not Banksy’s work. I love the goat.
