The pickuptruck is a mobile app and website, which uses twitter to gather pickup lines using the hash tag, #pickupline.  On the website, you can go through random pickuplines, voting for the “good ones”! See all the pickuplines that someone has submitted by clicking on their username (it uses the twitter username), add your own, and see the top rated lines.  It’s regulated by the community, so if there’s spam or if it’s too racy, it will get voted off. We also had two modes: nerdy and not nerdy.  Barbie puts on her glasses when she’s in nerdy mode!  Mobile users can use this app using opera widgets, and can also save their favourites.

The pickuptruck is a fun little application I built with Dan Wichett using Ruby on Rails. I came up with the branding, the interface design, and the front end coding (css/html).  I wanted to do something different with the design, yet playful.  Finally, I came up with the idea of making the site using toys, and barbie was an obvious choice for our lady.  Luckily I found a good patch of concrete for a photo shoot!
